Module 9: Project contractual structure, rights and obligations
Project participants: Consultant
A consultant enters into a contract, either with the project owner or another project participant, to provide specialised services in relation to the project. For example, a consultant may be contracted to:
provide project management services
undertake the architectural or structural design of the project
prepare detailed mechanical and electrical layout drawings
provide legal, financial, insurance or tax advice or services.
It is common on public sector projects for the project owner to appoint a consulting engineering firm to provide the project engineer services explained on a previous page.
