Module 10:  The benefits and requirements of ISO 37001

Introduction

This free online training module, “The benefits and requirements of ISO 37001”, is part of the GIACC Training Academy’s suite of modules which are designed to increase understanding of corruption in the infrastructure sector, and help prevent and detect it.

Corruption, including in particular fraud, bribery, extortion and cartels, can frequently occur in the procurement and construction of infrastructure projects.

One of the most effective corruption prevention measures is for all major participants in the infrastructure sector, including project owners, contractors, consultants and suppliers, to implement an effective anti-corruption management system within their organisations. A management system is a series of policies and procedures which are integrated into the organisation’s day to day operations.

This module examines the benefits and requirements of ISO 37001, which is the internationally best known and most widely used anti-bribery management system.  It is the international gold standard.  While it is targetted at bribery, it can be extended to include other types of corruption, such as fraud, extortion and cartels.

This module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.  On the last page of this module, you can print a certificate of completion, with your name and date of completion.  GIACC keeps no record of your identity in undertaking this module, so this certificate is purely for your own or your organisation’s record.

In this module:

  • “organisation” means the organisation implementing the ISO 37001 compliant anti-bribery management system
  • “business associate” means a party with which the organisation has a business relationship, e.g. customers, joint venture partners, consultants, sub-contractors, suppliers, agents
  • personnel” means the organisation’s directors, officers, employees, staff or workers (whether full time or part time, permanent or temporary).
