Understand the project

The investigator (with assistance, if necessary, from the technical and commercial experts) should first examine and understand the following matters:

• the nature, purpose and extent of the project
• the parties involved in the project (e.g. project owner, contractor, sub-contractors, suppliers and consultants)
• the contract structure which binds the parties together.
