Module 4: Common types of corruption in project construction
Conclusion
Fraud, bribery and extortion can be common during the construction phase of an infrastructure project.
It is therefore imperative that:
awareness is raised about how corruption takes place on infrastructure projects and how it can be prevented
effective anti-corruption controls are put in place by all relevant project participants throughout the project cycle
effective monitoring, reporting, investigation and prosecution systems are implemented.
(Note: Separate online modules cover how corruption takes place in the procurement phase, and how to prevent and investigate corruption in the procurement and construction phases).
