Dilemma 8: Sub-contractor - Dilemma
You are the sales manager of a company which wishes to bid for a contract. A representative of the project owner to which you are bidding informally recommends that you include a particular sub-contractor in your bid. You make some inquiries about the sub-contractor and find that it appears to be competent and have a good reputation. You are under pressure from your company to minimise expense on the bidding process, and are under time pressure to prepare the bid. Accepting the recommendation of the project owner's representative would limit costs on the bidding process, would save time, and would please the project owner's representative.
