Dilemma 7:  Payment of agent - Dilemma

You are a senior financial accountant in a company and you have received an instruction to make a payment on behalf of your company to an agent under an agency agreement.  You have had no previous involvement in this agent’s appointment and this is the first time that you have seen the agency agreement.  You are uneasy because you note that the agent’s fees are very high and are to be paid into a bank account in a tax haven.  You discuss your concerns with the financial director who tells you simply to make the payment and that there is nothing to be concerned about.

What do you do?
